Jason Hall was born to British parents in Toronto, Canada and now lives in London, England.
His plays include: 21 Things You Should Know About Toronto’s Crack-Smoking Mayor (Sweet Venues, Edinburgh Fringe); THE MATCH (Company of Angels / Latitude Festival); THIRD FLOOR (Trafalgar Studios); GBS (Theatre503); and Eyes Catch Fire (Finborough Theatre).
Eyes Catch Fire won Canada’s Herman Voaden playwriting award, was Time Out London’s Critics’ Choice and is currently taught on a drama course at Yale University; a Spanish-language version of the play was produced in Colombia while Jason was British Council Visiting Artist at Teatro Libre de Bogota. GBS was runner-up for the UK’s John Whiting award and has also been produced off-Broadway and at the Toronto Fringe Festival, where it won the Patron’s Pick award. THIRD FLOOR has also been produced at Toronto’s Summerworks Festival, off-Broadway and multiple times in Germany.
Rose’s Clothes, a new play for young audiences commissioned by Canada’s Thousand Islands Playhouse, will begin touring Eastern Ontario in Spring 2015.
Jason is a Lecturer in Playwriting at Brunel University and has previously led playwriting courses at the Royal Court Young Writers Programme and Teatro Libre de Bogota.
